What's Happening Now?
September 8, 2006 Personal: It's back-to-school time here in New York. My daughter started High School on Wednesday. Where does the time go? Both of my children are now taller than me. I remember when I had to bend at the knees to walk holding their hands. *sigh* Well, now comes the time of pink streaks in the hair, boys, hopefully less girl-drama......and did I mention boys? It's the 3rd day of school and she already has a new boyfriend. My son is very nervous. We go to check out a new communication and social skills program for him next Tuesday. If the placement seems appropriate, he'll start school in the next week or so. He's having trouble sleeping now and is obsessing over a dozen different scenarios. He's afraid the other kids won't like Pokemon. He's afraid they'll be mean to him (like so many kids before, in other programs). He's afraid that the teachers and counselors won't listen to him when he says he doesn't know how to do something. He's such a tortured soul. It breaks my heart, but I'm keeping an optimistic attitude that this year will be better for him. I've finally retained an attorney to ensure that the school follows through on their responsibilities and doesn't deny my requests for help for my son purely for financial reasons. On the sales front: I'm working hard on getting all of my stores stocked. If you visit both of my bookstores right now, you'll notice that I carry the same stock in each of them. Rest assured, I have hundreds more books just waiting to be scanned and listed in my Hibidder store. I also have quite a few more "widgets" sitting on the shelf calling to me to be photographed for my Wendeys_Widgets store. Soon! As for the ads...................my shelves overfloweth with magazines waiting to be pulled apart and culled for their paper treasure. I've been having fun going through some advertisements from the early 40s, showing the kids the ads for war bonds and the blurbs about rationing and communism. It's like a different world to them. They don't even know what it was like before cd's and vcr's! Pic of the Day: Here's Wanda relaxing :)
